June - '09
- 11 - The June WCRC club meeting,
7:00PM
at the Circle. The June WCRC club meeting will be
preceded by the annual Winner's Circle Running Club "Fukawi
Run". Runners will be divided into two teams by the judges, blind-folded and
driven to a point more or less 7 miles from the Circle, where they will be
dumped on the street en masse (you could also say "in MA", except that 7 miles
might make it "in NH"). In any case, everyone has to find their way back to
the Circle by the shortest route. The team with all members back to the circle
first wins!!! Actually its cross-country style scoring. The first runner back
scores 1 point, the second runner scores 2 points, etc. If there are 26
runners total, the last runner to return gets 26 points. Once all runners have
returned, the team with the lowest point total wins! Thus, everyone counts in
the team effort! This is a club wide event - any WCRC member can participate.
Fukawi runners should be at the Circle, ready to run
by 5:00 PM.
- 18 - A special WCRC race application mailing
will be held, 6:30PM at the circle.
- 20 - The Mt. Washington Road Race.
This is a lottery controlled event, so if you didn't get in
through the lottery in March, you can't run. However, volunteers are needed to
help at the WCRC managed water stop or to ferry WCRC vehicles to the top
before the race. If you are interested in helping out, and joining us for the
gala post-race cookout and party, contact any of the WCRC board members or
send email to wcrc@xenia.unh.edu.
