January
- 1 - The 15th Annual Bud Light Hangover Classic
10K and 5K Road Races. "A New Year's Day Tradition."
Flat, Fast and Accurate. 11:00 AM at the Winner's Circle Sports Bar, Rt.
110, Salisbury, MA. Long sleeve shirts, classic beer mugs, 5 year age divisions

- 4 - The January WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 21 - The 3rd Annual Newburyport Rotary Frigid
Fiver 5 mile road race. 1:00 PM at the Bresnahan School, 333 High
St., Newburyport, MA. Organized by WCRC. Long sleeve t-shirts to first
150 entrants. Age division awards. For more information contact Bob Manning

February
- 1 - The February WCRC club meeting will not be held since the
annual meeting is only 2 days later. The usual Thursday run and social
will still occur of course.
- 3 - The WCRC annual meeting, election of 1996 WCRC officers,
and winter party. 6PM upstairs at the Circle.
March
- 2 - Winter Wonderland Race. 2.6 mile
road race and 5K snow/XC race in Maudslay State Park, Newburyport, MA.
Organized by WCRC. Snow race will pit runners versus XC skiers and snowshoers.
Held in conjunction with Newburyport's Winter Carnival. Road race - 9AM;
snow race - 9:45 AM. New race to raise funds for Park's purchase of abutting
land. Otherwise land goes to developers! T-shirts and raffles. For more

- 7 - The March WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 30 - 15th Annual April Fool's Four-Mile Road
Race. 11 AM start at Winner's Circle Sports Bar, Rte. 110 (1/2
mile east of Rte. 95) in Salisbury, MA. Pre-entry $8 with shirt, $6 without
shirt. Post-entry $8 without shirt. Cash awards to top 5 male and 3 female
finishers. Age group awards. Team awards. Raffles. For more information

April
- 4 - The April WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 13 - WCRC pre-marathon carbo loading party at the Masonic Temple
in Merrimac at 6:00 P.M. on Sat. April 13th. The building is white, on
the right, right before the firehouse on Route 110. This affair will be
a spagetti dinner, salad, bread, etc. Price $7.50 per person. The affair
will be catered by our own Mark Behan. If you want to attend let Vicki

- 15 - WCRC bus trip to the 100th
running of the Boston Marathon. Bus seats open (for a fee) only to
WCRC members with Boston numbers, on a space available basis. For more

May
- 2 - The May WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 15 - The 7th Annual Run For The Roses 5K
Women's Road Race Plus Non-Competitive Walk will be held at 6:30 PM
on Wednesday, May 15, 1996 at the Winner's Circle Sports Bar, Route 110
(near Rte. 95), Salisbury, MA. Organized by WCRC to benefit the Crisis
Center (Newburyport, MA) and Safe Place Inc (Portsmouth, NH). Single roses
to all competitors - bouquet to winner. Custom T-shirts to first 200 registrants.
Awards to top finishers, age division awards, 3 women team awards, mother
and daughter team and sister team awards. Post race award ceremony with
race video including each runner's finish. For more information call Sue

- 17 - The 4th Annual Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Race
Against Extinction 10K Road Race & 4 Mile Walk will be run
at 6:15 PM on Friday, May 17, 1996 at the Parker River National Wildlife
Refuge, Plum Island, Newbury, MA. Organized by WCRC. Come enjoy a spring
evening sunset run on the most scenic course in New England!!! A flat,
fast, wheel measured, breathtaking course. Commemorative T-Shirts
to first 100 registrants. Entry Fee: pre-registration $10 with shirt or
$6 no shirt, race day $8 no shirt. Awards 1st-3rd female and male finishers.
Age group awards: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. For more information

June
- 6 - The June WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 15 - 36th Mount Washington Road Race.
10:00 AM start on Saturday, June 15, 1996 at Pinkham Notch, Gorham, NH.
"Only one hill" (all 7.6 miles of it). Lottery held March 16.
Runners notified yea or nay by April 15. Spectators and volunteers (for
the WCRC water stop) welcome! See you on the mountain.
July
- 11 - The July WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
August
- 1 - The August WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 4 - 6th Annual High Street Mile
will be run starting at 10AM on Sunday, August 4, 1996 at Atkinson
Common in Newburyport, MA. Fast, flat, straight, USA/T&F certified
course. Come experience a one mile road race. "The Way Racing Used

- 10 - Merrimac Old Home Days 2 Mile Road Race. 5:15 start in
Merrimac, MA. Assisted by WCRC. For more information contact Bob Randall

September
- 1 - 1st Bruce Ellis Memorial Couples 5K. At the Winner's

- 5 - The September WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 14 - 8th Annual Fred Brown Lake Winnipesaukee Relay.
Weirs Beach, NH. WCRC is sure to field teams, including the twice victorious

- 17 - Annual WCRC members versus GDA students cross-country dual
meet at Governor Dummer Academy, Byfield, MA. 4:45 PM start on GDA 5K cross-country
course. FREE (WCRC members and GDA students only). For more information

- 22 - The 14th Annual Yankee Runner Short Race. 5K
cross-country race at Governor Dummer Academy, Byfield MA. First race of
USATF-NE Cross-Country Grand Prix Series. 10AM start. For more information

October
- 3 - The October WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 6 - 7th Annual US Healthcare / Apple Harvest 5 Mile Run.
12 noon start on Batchelder Street in West Newbury, MA. Assisted by WCRC.

November
- 3- First Trick or Treat Trot 5K Road Race. 1 PM start at Newburyport
High School, Newburyport, MA. Assisted by WCRC. For more information contact

- 7 - The November WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle. Will
include David Abusamra slide show from Atlanta Olympics.
- 23 - WCRC Predict-Your-Time Turkey Trot. WCRC members only.

- 28 - The 7th Annual Turkey Trot 3.1 Mile X-Country Run/Walk.
Proceeds to benefit the Winner's Circle Running Club's High School Cross
Country Jamboree. 8:20 AM start at Maudslay State Park, Newburyport, MA.

- 5 - The December WCRC club meeting, 6:30PM at the Circle.
- 8- The Mill Cities Club Relay. Relay team race open to invited
"mill cities" clubs only (including WCRC, the '94 and '95 club

- 13 - The WCRC Christmas Party (not the same place, same time,

- 15- The Santa's Toy Trot 2, 4 and 6 Mile Road
Races (plus Non-Competitive Walk and 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run) will
be held in Merrimac, MA on Sunday, December 15, 1996 at 1:00 PM. Register
with a toy!!! All proceeds to benefit Toys for Tots. 1st 100 pre-registered
in road race or walk receive long sleeve T-shirts. Prizes to top 2 male
and female finishers in each distance and age division (Open, Masters 40-49,
Senior 50+) plus raffles. Sponsored by WCRC. For more information call
