Congratulations to all of the WCRC Members who ran the 112th edition of the Boston Marathon! Special congratulations to WCRC member Steve Reed who was 5th place in the 60+ male age division, and to Nancy McCarthy who was 15th in the women's 60+ age division. Congratulations also to Matt Manning, his 2:39:41 was fastest time on the bus! Finally special thanks to Vicki Miller for organizing the bus and hotel (there's no better way to run Boston) and to Linda Long and Tom Roldan who hosted the WCRC "hospitality suite" at the Lenox Hotel. |
WCRC runs at 5:00 PM every Thursday from the club's locker rooms at the Winner's Circle Sports Bar, 211 Elm Street (Rt. 110), Salisbury, MA 01952. Runners of all abilities are invited to participate. Club "social hours" occur each Thursday following the run. General club meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM.
Group runs are held every Monday at 6:00 PM from the parking lot at Saunders at Rye Harbor, in Rye NH. Of course, a "social hour" on the deck always follows the run.
WCRC Coached Running Workouts. Get ready for Yankee Homecoming and other summer races with coached track workouts. All runners and ability levels welcome. Workouts every Wednesday April 30th-June 18th, 6p.m. at Fuller Track in Newburyport. Program sponsored by the Winner's Circle Running Club, coached by experienced runners and coaches. Hershey Youth Track Program sponsored locally by the Winner's Circle Running Club. For all local youth ages 9-14. Compete in three age groups: 9-10, 11-12, 13-14. Practices begin April 29th at Fuller Track in Newburyport. Coached by experienced track coaches and athletes. | The 19th annual Evelyn's Run for the Roses 5K Women's Road Race and non-competitive walk will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. 6:30 PM start at the Winner's Circle Sports Bar, Route 110, Salisbury, MA. Custom singlets available to preregistered entrants, a rose to all finishers. Overall, age group and team awards (3 person open, masters, and seniors teams, plus mother/daughter and sister/sister teams). | Trav's Trail Run 3 Mile X-Country Run will be held on Sunday May 18, 2008 @ 10:30 AM in MAUDSLAY STATE PARK, NEWBURYPORT, MA. This event is to benefit the Travis Eliot Landreth Memorial Scholarship Fund. Come experience this beautiful and popular cross-country course in Maudslay State Park. | The June WCRC club meeting, Thursday June 12, will be preceded by the annual Winner's Circle Running Club "Fukawi Run". Runners will be divided into two teams by the judges, blind-folded and driven to a point more or less 7 miles from the Circle, where they will be dumped on the street en masse (you could also say "in MA", except that 7 miles might make it "in NH"). In any case, everyone has to find their way back to the Circle by the shortest route. This is a club wide event - any WCRC member can participate. Fukawi runners should be at the Circle, ready to run by 5:30 PM. | |
| The 30th Annual Pat Polletta 5k Road Race will be held will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2008 at 6:30 PM. At the Winner's Circle Sports Bar in Salisbury MA. Now on the 2008 New England Runner Pub Series. Flat with one hill, out & back. Last mile is on the rail trail. This race is in memory of Pat Polletta, well known in the running community and former running coach for Amesbury High School. 3RD WCRC/YANKEE RUNNER-RIVER RIVALS SUMMER TRACK GRAND PRIX SERIES. The Winner’s Circle Running Club and Yankee Runner of Newburyport in collaboration with Newburyport, Amesbury, Pentucket, and Triton Track present a 5 meet summer track and field series for youth and adults.
